Celebrity photographer Amit Khanna has transformed his life after beating the morbid obesity he suffered from ever since he was a child. Weighing more than 200 kg at the age of 10, Khanna, now at 40, is the healthiest and fittest version of himself in life ever. According to Khanna, he could never indulge in activities like playing sports, riding cycles, or running like his friends due to his excessive weight. But something changed for him.
He even resorted to fad diets, weight loss surgeries, and even starvation to reduce weight, but nothing was permanent, as it all kept coming back.

Amit had COVID-19 four times due to obesity

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Khanna said he got a coronavirus infection at least four times, as his immunity was super low due to obesity. According to doctors, being overweight or obese can reduce your immunity levels as your immune system's ability to fight off infections goes drastically down.
It also leads to increased susceptibility to various illnesses—which includes severe COVID-19 and other viral infections. It happens due to a variety of mechanisms - including changes in immune cell function and increased inflammation.

How did Amit lose weight to transform his life?

While the ever-increasing weight was taking a toll on Amit’s physical and mental health, his erratic work timings and schedule only added to the woes.
He then decided to seriously transform his life by signing up with a health coach who focused on fitness and diet. Amit had to follow a calorie-deficit diet along with carefully making sure to complete his step count in a day—even if it meant taking stairs to go up and down the building.
Despite a lot of rigorous hard work Amit did to reduce weight, he says he found it worth it. “I was eating to my heart’s content, and workouts never felt like a challenge,” he said.
Doing gym exercises, which included cardio and weights, and following a strict diet of high protein and low carbs, Amit reduced 25 kilos in just six months. And today, he weighs 77 kg—the lowest ever since he was ten years old. “I can now run and jump on trampolines and live all those moments I missed out on as a kid,” he says.
For Amit, fitness is now not just a way for his newfound physical and mental health transformation but a way of life he plans to continue with. “The idea of a healthy life keeps me motivated.”
