Why Joe Rogan Quit Alcohol and You Might Want To, Too

Joe Rogan has never been shy about sharing the inner workings of his mind, his muscles, or his latest health experiments. But his latest revelation is one that raised eyebrows: the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s (UFC) commentator has given up alcohol—and says he feels better than ever.
At 57, Rogan is known for doing just about everything to optimise his body: cold plunges, sauna sessions, carnivore diets, elk meat, kettlebell flows, and enough vitamins. But in a recent Instagram post, he admitted there was one vice left that he had finally ditched.
“I haven't had a drink in about 2 months, and I feel great,” Rogan wrote, beneath a photo of his dog, Marshall, gripping a bottle-shaped soft toy. “Almost makes me feel dumb for not quitting a long time ago.”
In classic Rogan style, he added, “I do so many things to stay healthy only to sabotage it with booze multiple days a week. Glad my dumb a*s figured it out eventually. Marshall, on the other hand, wants to get hammered and go to the dog park.”
On episode #2302 of The Joe Rogan Experience, he went deeper. "I quit too… a month ago, just stopped drinking," he said. "I think I'm done for no reason other than it's not good for you. I didn't have to. I enjoyed it, but the days after drinking were just too rough."
His tone turned from curious to critical: "I'm like, what kind of a moron who takes such good care of his body is poisoning himself a couple of days a week for fun? And then I'm like, Well, will I have the same amount of fun if I don't poison myself? Turns out, yes."
This is the kind of sobering logic that is starting to ripple through the world of health and wellness—not just among celebs, but in gyms, podcasts, and social circles everywhere.
So, if you think giving up alcohol means giving up fun, consider these five reasons to reconsider your next happy hour:
Better Sleep
Without alcohol, your body spends more time in deep, restorative sleep. That means clearer mornings, improved memory, and less grumbling into your coffee.
Mental Clarity
No more brain fog or 3 a.m. regrets. Sobriety brings sharper focus and more consistent moods—no hangxiety required.
Healthy Liver
One less toxin to process means a healthier, happier liver. It’s not glamorous, but it’s the hardest-working organ you’ve got.
Weight Loss
Alcohol is packed with empty calories, and it also loosens your grip on those snack cravings. No booze, fewer binges.
More Time and Money
Hangovers steal your weekends and your wallet. Ditch the drinks, and you’ll be surprised how much richer life looks—literally.
