Buffet's daily schedule continues to fascinate, as even at the age of 94, the billionaire drinks at least five cans of cola a day, eats McDonald’s breakfasts, and does not exercise
Warren Buffet has been in the news the entire last week after he announced his step-down as CEO of Berkshire Hathaway after 60 years of being in command. However, his daily schedule continues to fascinate, as even at the age of 94, the billionaire drinks at least five cans of cola a day, eats McDonald’s breakfasts, and does not exercise at all.
“For 94 years, I’ve been able to drink what I want and do what I want, and I’ve defied all the predictions of what should’ve happened to me... Charlie (Munger) and I never really exercised all that much. We were carefully preserving ourselves," Buffet said on the sidelines of Berkshire Hathaway’s annual meeting.
Known for his simple and frugal lifestyle, Buffet says the secret of his happy and long life is the “bad breaks” he takes along with a positive attitude rooted in simple joys, personal freedom, and ignoring gloomy predictions about ageing.
Buffet’s diet is loaded with junk food
Buffet has never changed his diet. According to news reports, he daily eats hot dogs, fries, popcorn, cookies, and candy. He famously once said that he eats like a six-year-old since they have the lowest death rate.
"If somebody told me I would live an extra year if I ate nothing but broccoli and a few other things all my life instead of eating what I like, I would say take a year off the end of my life and let me eat what I like to eat,” Buffet was quoted by CNBC earlier in an interview.
Buffet’s daily breakfast includes a McDonald's splurge, eating bacon, egg, and cheese biscuits, along with an occasional two-sausage patty. Apart from McDonald's breakfast, he is also famously known to consume at least five cans of Coca-Cola daily, preferring regular Coke during the day and Cherry Coke at night.
Buffet also regularly indulges in ice cream. “I think happiness makes an enormous amount of difference in terms of longevity,” Buffett said in a 2023 interview. “And I'm happier when I'm drinking Coke or eating hot fudge sundaes or hot dogs.”
Buffet does not believe in workouts
Buffet says he has not exercised most parts of his life, and despite that, his body has been stable all these decades. He cites the physical toll on professional athletes as a strong reason to avoid joining baseball or basketball teams, saying that excessive workouts can be dangerous for your body.
However, he now does take his daily walks and plays a game of bridge daily to keep mentally alert. “It’s a game you can enjoy when you are in your 90s, and you are seeing a different intellectual challenge every seven minutes. It’s the best exercise there is for the brain,” he says.
Buffet also sleeps for at least eight hours a day, a habit he says he has always followed since his younger days.
