For Mandira, fitness means being consistent with any routine that you follow and sticking to it
Mandira Bedi is not just known for her super acting chops and presenting skills on television but for a super fab body, which she says is the hard work of years. In a recent interview, Bedi shared her secret to staying strong and fit at 53.
For Mandira, fitness means being consistent with any routine that you follow and sticking to it, rather than going for the latest trends, which she says are just temporary fads. Mandira says she prefers a ‘classic’ approach to fitness, focusing on timeless and her go-to exercises like stretching and yoga.
Mandira says she does not go for any weird fitness trends. “Whatever gets you into the space of fitness and health is not important as long as you stay there. That's the thing; I don't try any weird fitness trends. I am a classic in every way,” she said.
Mandira, who began her acting career with a superhit television serial, became a household name after she began hosting various cricket events, including the ICC Cricket World Cups and the Indian Premier League.
Dislikes squats
Even though squats are known to be a versatile strength exercise that helps build your lower body strength and improve overall fitness, Mandira does not like them.
She especially does not like weighted squats but says that it is okay to have personal preferences when it comes to exercise. Mandira stresses the importance of doing some form of physical activity every day, even if it's just a small amount. “I do a lot of stretching. I put down a yoga mat. I do abs; I do stretches... push yourself to do some sort of activity every day. Some form of activity is better than none… Gosh, I hate squats; I hate weighted squats,” she added.
Why should you stretch daily?
While consistent workouts do give you good results, flexibility is also an important part of fitness and overall health. Experts say daily activities can be much more challenging without the ability to bend over, twist, or squat.
And so, by incorporating a stretching program into your daily routine, you can increase your flexibility and range of motion. You can also improve performance in sports and daily tasks. Stretching helps prevent injury and decrease pain associated with muscle tightness.
While it takes only a few minutes a day, stretching is beneficial and allows you to keep your normal range of motion throughout your life. For those who are active, it may be best to do your stretches after you work out. For everyone, try incorporating these stretches today to help improve your flexibility and ward off back pain and poor posture in the future.
