Shalini Passi, the Netflix sensation and art collector, has gained immense popularity after the reality show Fabulous Lives vs. Bollywood Wives hit our screens. Being praised for the bold personality she carries, Passi lives life on her terms, unbothered by criticism. While the series got us all hooked on it for several reasons, what made her stand out from all is her positive attitude towards life and how swiftly she deals with nasty situations—from judging to bitching.
But we are here for her diet—the ultimate secret to that ever-glowing skin and healthy body. Besides all the glamour that we get to see on the red carpets, Passi has always lived by the philosophy of simple living, high thinking. In fact, even when it comes to her diet, Passi swears by Ayurvedic principles.
In an interaction with BBC Asian Network, the 49-year-old said her diet is Ayurvedic. While consuming raw vegetables is not everyone’s cup of tea, Passi calls it her culture—to eat raw foods till 6pm. “I consume 10-12 different kinds of vegetables throughout the day. I also include ghee and all the Ayurvedic spices and powders. I feel my lifestyle is for me to be healthy and functional,” said Passi.
Because of their high fibre and low calorie content, raw foods—especially fruits and vegetables—offer a number of possible health advantages, such as better digestion, more energy, and the ability to lose weight. Furthermore, raw foods are a good source of antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals that can improve general health and possibly reduce the chance of developing certain diseases.
When Passi says “Ayurvedic principles,” she means incorporating ghee, Ayurvedic spices, and powders into her diet. Besides this, Passi also loves fresh juices for nutrition and skin benefits. In a nutshell, she makes sure she keeps herself hydrated throughout the day by drinking plenty of fluids and using natural detox methods like black salt and lemon to detoxify.
Of course, Passi, who swears by a clean lifestyle, avoids processed foods, alcohol and sugar. So much so that she even carries her own vegetables when travelling.
Besides Diet, What Passi Believes Keeps Her Healthy
“I pray for almost two hours a day. I work out. I dance for an hour every day. I do Pilates for an hour every day. It is very disciplined. I have a schedule like a child has. Otherwise, I can keep dancing for two hours. My life is very regimented, like minute to minute,” Passi told BBC Asian Network.
