When the bloody mary decides to pay its monthly visit, it is always a ruckus, but it is totally natural. It happens to every woman as our body adjusts to the change and makes our life easier to make us more comfortable.
Now, when it comes to nausea before menstruation, there is no real reason or cause ‘why’ it happens, but it can be due to menstrual cramps and maybe because of the hormonal changes that our bodies go through. Additionally, there might also be a genetics factor involved, as studies show that women with pain-related diseases are more prone to menstruation nausea. Keeping the causes aside, here is what can help you to combat this:
Anti-inflammatory medication
Before the beginning of the period, our bodies produce prostaglandins. This causes inflammation and uterus contractions, thus leading to painful periods. Therefore, anti-inflammatory medication can really help to treat both pain and inflammation.
Avoid certain foods
For that week in your life, avoid foods that might make you more nauseous. Try opting for clear soups like broths, and stick to bland foods. Also, stay away from anything that is too heavy for the stomach, too greasy or too oily. To combat nausea symptoms, you can also distribute your food into smaller portions and eat more often in order to meet your daily calorie and protein intake.
Home remedies
Last but not the least is trying out some home remedies because they always work! There are a number of natural remedies that help in containing general nausea symptoms. There are also studies that have shown that ginger is helpful in treating nausea and vomiting. So, you can get a pack or two of ginger tea to be on the safer side. Or you can also look for some ginger tabs that you can chew on throughout the day. On top of this, make sure you are drinking enough water and keeping yourself hydrated. Getting fresh air can help too, so try and step outside for sometime in the middle of the day as this can help you deal with nausea.
