It is official, the wellness world is taking over and getting louder but all it is teaching us is how to feel more peaceful. In today’s trend we are talking about a wellness hack that is sure to take over your feeds pretty soon. So, if you are someone who is engaged in this space or would want to be, or even if you are someone who wants to take their fitness journey more seriously in 2025, this is a way for you to be on top!
We welcome you to the age of sound baths, the latest sensory trend that is making its way to Instagram. Often seen at luxury spas and wellness centers, this go-to ritual is going to be the next best thing for burnout recovery. Some call it calming, while for some it is as magical as it can get. But what is it exactly?
What is it?
A sound bath (as the name already gives it away), doesn't look like a regular shower. It is a meditative experience where you are bathing in sound waves produced by instruments used in the traditional practice of meditation, healing and Ayurveda. These are bowls, chimes, gongs, crystal singing items and even tuning forks. All you have to do is lie down with complete silence, close your eyes and let the vibrations wash over you. Does it sound a little woo-woo? Maybe in theory, but in practice it has helped many. Sound baths are rooted in the ancient practices from Himalayan and Tibetan cultures that believed in healing through the power of sounds.
The idea is also pretty simple. Sound frequencies have been known to influence brain waves and shift your being from an anxious, overthinking state (aka, beta) to a deeper, more meditative state (aka, alpha, theta or delta). Basically, it may look like putting your nervous system on airplane mode. People have often said that they feel clearer, lighter and supremely relaxed after just one session of sound bath.
So, whether you are a believer or just a curious cynic, one thing is for sure, sound baths are slowly getting their way to the wellness industry and it’s happening in full force. If you have been feeling a bit overwhelmed, burnt out, or are just in the mood to try something new, this could be the weird-but-wonderful ritual your routine is missing.
