It's that time of the year again when Delhi faces the wrath of the summer season. With the temperature reaching and crossing 45°C across parts of Delhi NCR, the government is already urging people to stay indoors and step out in the heat only for something essential. There has also been a sharp increase in heat-related illnesses across the area. If right now, going out of the house feels like you are stepping into a giant oven, all of us are in the same boat. So, the advice is that you should stay home most part of the day but if you absolutely have to step out then don't leave without these 3 things:

A big bottle of water and then some

Keeping yourself hydrated is the most essential in the summer season. Dehydration is bound to happen and it comes in faster than you think. The moment you step outside the house, your body gets into an overdrive of keeping itself cool. And so, this means that you will be sweating buckets, even when you don't feel it. Thus, carrying a bottle of water (the insulated one is preferred) and sipping every 30 mins even when you are not thirsty. You can also add a bit of lemon or a pinch of salt, even some electrolyte powders to give the water some flavour.

A face cloth or cooling towel

This may seem like an odd tip but trust us, this one works and it actually is a game-changer. A damp cloth or a cooling towel around your neck or even on your forehead can instantly lower your body temperature. Soak the cloth in cold water before leaving the house and carry it in a zip lock. This trick is going to save you a lot this heatwave season and you are going to thank us when you are stuck in traffic or walking through a sun-scorched market.

A wide hat

No one said the sun saving tips have to be all boring. Carrying a wide-brimmed hat protects you from the harmful effects of the sun while proudly being a fashion statement also. It acts like your helmet when you are going to fight the heatwave war. The wide brimmed is especially curated to shield your face, neck, and even shoulders from direct sunlight, drastically reducing the risk of a heatstroke or sunburn. Go for breathable fabrics like cotton or straw (bonus if you can find something that is light in colour to reflect sunlight). This is a type of shade you can carry everywhere.
