Once the chocolate boy of Bollywood, Fardeen Khan faded from the spotlight somewhere in the early 2000s. But if you spotted the actor recently and found yourself wondering, “Wait, is that really Fardeen?”, you are not alone. The 51-year-old has pulled off a weight loss transformation that is making heads turn and jaws drop.
In a candid chat with Cyrus Broacha on Cyrus Says, Fardeen dished out more than just diet tips. He shared how he went from tipping the scales at 102 kilos to a leaner, lighter 78-79 kilos. It was not for a role or a red carpet. It was about feeling human again.
“I didn’t feel like myself at all,” he confessed. And it is true, when you are carrying more weight than your body can handle, it is not just the mirror that nags at you. It is your knees, your mood, your metabolism, and your entire quality of life.
But the real turning point came when Fardeen decided to call time on his relationship with alcohol. “I was sober in the early 2020s,” he said, referring to the pandemic lockdown as the moment of reckoning. While most of us were trying a lot of things, Fardeen was busy taking his life back.
The drinking, he said, was not fun anymore. “I was not happy with who I was.” So, he stopped. “It was the first time that my brain fog kind of cleared,” he said, describing his post-sobriety mornings as “clean, sober.”
But it was not easy. “Coming to terms with your new life was a tough journey,” he admitted. But it was worth every struggle. “I have never been happier," he says.
Here are Five Real-Talk Tips to Quit Alcohol:
- Acknowledge the Interference: When your drinking starts getting in the way of you, that is your sign. Fardeen knew it was a problem. Acceptance is step one.
- Get Professional Help: Do not go solo if you do not have to. Therapy, support groups, rehab — whatever works for you.
- Go Cold Turkey: While it is not for everyone, quitting overnight worked for him. He knew moderation was not the answer.
- Redefine Fun and Relaxation: “Being sober is actually relaxing and being comfortable with yourself,” he said. Turns out, peace of mind beats a tipsy buzz any day.
- Trust the Process: Change takes time. The happy, healthy Fardeen you see today? He is the product of years of unlearning, relearning, and self-work.
