In a jadoo diet, a plant-based weight loss programme helps you shed weight by reducing cholesterol levels
A cardiologist has claimed it is easy to lose weight with a strict diet and starvation. Delhi-based Dr Bimal Chhajer, specializing in non-invasive cardiology, recently shared details of his jadoo, or magic diet, as he calls it, for losing at least seven kg in a month. According to Dr Chhajer, this plant-based weight loss programme helps you shed weight by cholesterol levels.
Experts believe while lower cholesterol levels themselves do not directly cause weight loss, the lifestyle changes that lead to it, like adopting a healthy diet and increasing physical activity, can result in losing excessive weight. In turn, weight loss also positively impacts cholesterol levels.
How does the jadoo diet work?
According to Dr Chhajer, his Jadoo diet focuses on simple, wholesome foods and smart combinations that can keep excess flab down and elevate your overall health. It also helps you enter a calorie deficit without feeling starved while allowing your body to break fat naturally.
Explaining key components of his diet for weight loss, Dr Chhajer said in a podcast show, “It is a very simple concept: if we fill our stomachs with high-calorie food, our weight will increase, but if we fill them with low-calorie food, we will not be hungry and our weight will not increase.”
"So in the jadoo diet, we give a selection of low-calorie foods. You don't have to stay hungry. In fact, you should eat well, but stick to low-calorie foods like fruits, vegetables, and salads... this leads to rapid weight loss without depriving your body of food. 7 kg weight loss in a month is assured, and that too without any extra cost,” he added.
How to follow the jadoo diet?
To follow Dr Chhajer’s jadoo diet, steady consumption of foods like black tea and seasonal fruits is a must, which he recommends taking for breakfast.
Then for lunch, incorporate protein-loaded dals like moong and masoor along with a salad of raw vegetables like cucumber, beetroot, and carrot for protein, vitamins, and other nutrients. For dinner, you must daily have soup along with salad and boiled vegetables, which can also be sautéed in minimal oil.
Dr Chhajer says this diet only has to be followed for a month and not more than that. He claims a weight loss of over 10 kilos as well for a few people – depending on your metabolism and body type. “I recently met a patient in Kolkata; she was 86 kg, and now she weighs 62 kg by just following this diet. The jadoo diet works wonderfully,” he said in the interview.
Can eating a vegetarian diet provide enough nutrition?
Experts say a well-planned vegetarian diet is among the healthiest ways to meet your nutritional needs. Plant-based foods reduce the risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and even some cancers. However, a few vegetarian foods also rely too heavily on processed foods with too many calories and too much sugar, fat, and salt. These diets may not include enough fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and nutrient-rich foods.
To plan a healthy, vegetarian diet, you must choose a variety of healthy plant-based foods – which, apart from fruits and vegetables, should include whole grains, nuts, and legumes like lentils, beans, and peanuts. At the same time, cut back on less healthy choices like sugar-sweetened beverages, fruit juices, and refined grains.
