Thus, this day is significant in recognizing and appreciating the importance of the medical profession, especially in the time of emergency or crisis.
National Doctor’s Day 2025 Theme
National Doctor’s Day is celebrated on July 1st every year and also observes a theme. This year it focuses on “Behind the Mask: Who Heals the Healers?” This theme is challenging us to see the condition of the doctors as well and to acknowledge their needs for care and assistance. Because only when they are doing good would they be able to treat their patients right. Every day medical professionals selflessly put their patients first, and this often happens at the price of their own well-being. National Doctors Day is an opportunity to honour the healers who selflessly care for us, not merely to show our gratitude.
National Doctor’s Day History
The Government of India instituted National Doctor's Day in 1991 as a way to honour the outstanding accomplishments of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy to the medical field and in public service. He established several institutions and organisations like Indian Medical Association and the Medical Council of India. Dr. Roy played a crucial role in developing the healthcare system in India.
