If you’ve ever noticed your breast size changing and wondered why, it’s not just your imagination. Breasts are highly responsive to hormonal shifts, lifestyle factors, and even your workout routine. From birth control to weight fluctuations, there are several totally normal reasons your cup size might feel different week to week. Here are 8 things that could be influencing your breast size:
Weight loss/ gain
No specific food can increase or decrease the size of your breasts, but they can be affected if you are gaining or losing significant weight. This is because the breast tissue is mainly made of fat and changes in weight can then ultimately lead to changes reflected in the breast size.
Exercise
With an increase in activity you can decrease body fat and this can lead to a decrease in the breast size in athletes. Exercise leads to an increase in muscle and specifically tones the chest walls where the breasts sit, and could potentially help keep them lifted.
Birth control
Birth control also causes changes in breast size that is because of fluid retention or temporary weight gain. Some may also experience simulation in the breasts that will cause them to go a complete size up.
Ovulation
The ovulation period leads to fluctuations in estrogen and progesterone levels and this leads to an increase in the blood flow to your breasts, this can also increase their fullness along with causing tenderness.
Menstruation
Another time during every month where hormonal changes drive the needle. During menstruation, you may experience your breasts feeling fuller because of the estrogen’s effect on the breast tissue.
Smoking
If there is unsupported breast tissue, it can lead to sagginnes in the breasts. When one smokes, there is less oxygen in the cells and this can affect the chest tissue in general.
Menopause
During menopause, one may experience a decrease in breast size because there is loss of estrogen. And this leads to loss in breast tissue.
Sexual activity
There is an increase in arousal, sensation, blood pressure and heart rate during sexual activity. This increases the blood flow to the breasts and causes them to swell. There is also some evidence to show that breasts can swell up to 25% in size due to sex because of the increase in blood flow.
