Celebrity fitness trainer Vinod Channa, whose famous clients include Anant and Nita Ambani, believes your eating habits alone can help you defy ageing and lead a healthy and fit life. Channa, who helped Anant lose 108 kg of weight in 18 months, has shared three transformative eating habits.
In the latest blog post, Channa emphasises that nutrition is important to not just maintain energy and skin health but is also crucial for long-term energy. While it is not easy to lose weight, sustaining it is even tougher. And even a small mistake can derail your journey and let your efforts of months go to waste. So, according to Channa, to not make these mistakes, you do not just need consistency but also long-term commitment. There are a few reasons as well.
"Many people usually complain that they are not losing weight/fat or reaching their target even after following a healthy diet and regular exercise. This is one of the major reasons due to which people get demotivated, and almost 80 percent of them leave everything,” Channa wrote on his website.
“They do not even attempt further to lose weight after initial failures wherein they have tried their best for 3 to 6 months. Only about 20 percent go a step further to search out the best trainer, seek the right guidance, and find out the gaps or errors in their diet and way of exercising," he added.

Channa’s fitness mantras

Eat a well-balanced diet

Channa highlights the importance of eating a well-balanced meal daily, which should be a perfect combination of proteins, carbs, fibre, vitamins, minerals, and essential fats to help your body function optimally.
A well-balanced meal helps keep your skin hydrated, firm, and youthful, boosts metabolism, ensures sustained energy, and also strengthens immunity levels. A diet loaded with nutrients—fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy, nuts, and lean meats—can help bring a youthful glow.

Stop eating junk food

“Junk and empty-calorie foods are the real culprits of premature ageing,” Channa warns, adding that processed foods, which include fried snacks, packaged chips and crisps, and sugary and bakery products that are loaded with carbohydrates, only increase oxidative stress, which causes inflammation.
According to experts, inflammation leads to signs of premature ageing like wrinkles and skin damage and other chronic health conditions like cancer and heart diseases. Sugar-laden food also leads to a spike in blood sugar levels, causing diabetes and energy crashes that leave you feeling sluggish and fatigued.

Practice mindful eating

The practice of mindful eating involves paying close attention to the experience of eating, which is beneficial for both weight loss and skin health. According to Channa, if you focus more on hunger and fullness cues, you will be able to savouring each bite and eliminate distractions, thereby improving your relationship with food and potentially aiding in weight management.
Also, mindful eating helps in better digestion, which indirectly supports skin health by reducing inflammation and improving nutrient absorption. Doctors say mindful eating helps not just prevent overeating but also reduces cravings, which leads to weight gain. It also supports healthy digestion and nutrient absorption, maximising health benefits.
By staying present during meals and avoiding distractions, individuals can make healthier food choices, improving overall well-being and youthful vitality.
